Great Writing Explains. Great Copy Converts. Which Are You Doing?

I listened to Alex Hormozi recently as he introduced his new book, $100M Money Models.
He lit a fire under me. The kind that makes you stop, rethink, and realize your business will never be the same once you apply what you’ve just heard.
Alex offers free courses tied to each of his three books—$100M Offers, $100M Leads, and $100M Money Models. You can find them all at acquisition.com
.
I’ll be honest—I own the books, but I haven’t read them yet. The courses feel like the right entry point. Direct, practical, and immediately useful.
As I started the $100M Offers course, one line stopped me in my tracks:
The goal of great writing is for the reader to understand.
The goal of great copy is for the person to feel understood.
That hit me.
I’ve spent years writing to help readers understand. Breaking down ideas. Explaining concepts. Teaching. That’s important, but it’s only half the game.
If I want to connect deeply—if I want my words to convert—I need to shift. It’s not just about clarity. It’s about empathy. Writing so you feel seen in the struggle, the question, or the goal.
That’s the difference between good content and copy that moves people to act.
So here’s my question for you today:
Do you feel understood in what I’m sharing?
And what could I do better to help you both understand—and feel understood?
Because in the end, great writing explains. Great copy converts.

I’m curious—when you sit down to write for your business, do you think more about explaining your ideas clearly or about connecting with how your audience feels?
I’d love to hear your take. Drop a quick thought below—I’ll reply to every comment.
